Hoshizuna is a multi-part series detailing the life, relationship, and world of my two original characters Tooth (Hako), and Nail (Izume). Their future world is semi-aquatic after the rise in oceans and temperatures. The world features retro-industrial elements to give the futuristic themes a rustic and homey feel that grounds them to our present reality.
Hoshizuna is a coming of age story of boyhood, adversity, youth, and connection. The main characters names are Hako and Izume which translates to Tooth and Nail.
Global warming brings rise in sea-level, tsunamis, monsoons, extreme weather etc. Reef and ocean animals evolve and flourish. Surviving people live on small volcanic islands inspired by Kauai and Okinawa. Water across the majority of Earth's surface area causes gravity to pull more meteors, comets, and stars into the sea. People harvest these star shards and use them for energy.

red thread binds two soulmates who are destined to meet no matter where they are or how far apart they are. The thread is invisible, very long and indestructible and its purpose is to hold together the two people who are destined to be together. The problem is that sometimes it can get tangled and create very unpredictable knots.
The town is on an island semi-circled by a volcanic shorelines and dense forest hosting a shrine. The buildings in Hoshizuna are made of a mix of wood, stone, and metal, which gives them a rustic and mechanical look. One of the most striking features of Hoshizuna is the way that nature has become intertwined into the cityscape. Trees and plants grow in abundance throughout the cracks in the town,
